Where are you located?

We are located right behind the Papa John's on North Belair Rd, near the intersection of North Belair and Columbia Rd. You can also enter our parking lot through the Advanced Auto or Waffle House on Columbia Rd near that intersection.

How much is...?

Our haircuts include a shampoo in the comfiest bowls ever, followed by a blow-dry and style. Our stylists like to create the "bones" of a cut when wet and then refine after the blow-dry. We price our haircuts at around $75, but have options for clipper cuts and children. 

Our average blonding service is $187 including a beautiful cut, toner, and style. Although this number is our average, we do have lesser options and higher options. We cannot unfortunately offer a direct price until your booty is in our chair!

All of our listed color pricing includes a haircut/trim, and blonding sessions include pricing for a basic toner. There might be an upcharge for specialized toning that cannot be completed at the shampoo bowl, such as pastels, extreme ash, root smudges, some reds, etc. These toners require more precision and time for application. 

We endeavor to be upfront about pricing as no one likes surprises! If at any time during the appointment you want to revisit the pricing conversation, please do! We really want you to be comfortable in our chairs!

Booking

We encourage you to book anytime through our booking website! We are a small operation, and although we will answer the phone we are usually in the middle of performing services.

Note: we have never had to use them (our clients are amazing), but we require a card on file for most bookings. This card is only charged if the client does not show or contact us within 24 hours of her scheduled appointment. We require a 24 hour notice *more would be amazing) for all cancellations and reschedules. Cards are charged a $25 fee for a missed haircut, $50 for a missed color up to 3 hours, and $100 for missed color appointments 4 hours and more. 

When you book an appointment you are actually "requesting" an appointment. For new guests, this will trigger a form to be sent to you just to be sure you booked the right appointment for your desired result (so be sure to check your email). We usually approve the appointments quickly, but ask for flexibility within reason in the case we need to adjust your appointment to optimize our schedule.

About our clients...

Our ideal client is... almost everyone. We love teens (especially the awkward ones) and tweens, young professionals, mature women and everything in between. We are brimming with authenticity, so we don't offer extensions or unreal expectations. We are here to help you come up with a style that is budgetable and maintainable. Great hair comes with consistent care, and we have found that through consistent appointments you will find a special kind of friendship at Darling Hair Workshop.
 
Although we have a very diverse clientele including many, many Latina and Asian clients, we do not offer specific services for black hair. 5 years ago we determined we did not want to be a salon who pulls business away from black-owned businesses. That said, we welcome all people into our chairs and would be delighted to color and cut anyone's hair!

All of our girls are great at basic styles such as bobs, blondes, layers, all over color, etc. Rachel and Lyndsey will welcome more alternative styles while Samantha has a more classic approach to cutting and coloring. Weddings

Although we have a history in weddings, we no longer offer bridal services,

but Rachel will gladly get you ready for prom, social, homecoming, or a military ball. She has a lovely makeup kit and her updos are amazing!

Children

We are all moms at the salon, and are all very good with children. We would be delighted to serve your well-behaved child of nearly any age in our salon. Children under 7 can book a "Children's Cut." Children from 8-13 can book a "Tween Cut," and 14+ book adult services. 

Adults receiving services should try to avoid bringing children to the salon. We are very small and have little space for extra bodies in the room. 

All devices should be on silent and should not be a distraction to the other guests in the salon. Children must be respectful and kind during their visits. The salon is full of dangerous and expensive objects including heat tools and scissors, furniture and very hard iron stairs. We will gladly correct your children if you do not. 

Note, we are not a kids salon, but if they are in our beautiful space they will be treated as we treat all of our guests: with plenty of conversation and great hair! 

Etiquette

We ask our clients show up for your appointment on time. It might be a strange thing to say, but do not be too early. It might feel responsible to you, but it can cause us to feel anxious and rushed for the guest before you. 

We ask for at least 24 hours notice for a reschedule or cancellation. 

Please come alone for your appointment as much as possible. We can't express this enough: our salon is TINY. As in not enough room for your husband to hang out during your color appointment.

Tell us everything about your hair, holding nothing back about your color or keratin treatment history. Even if you cannot see it, it might still be there and have an effect on the outcome. Hair grows 6" in one year, so if your hair is a foot long we need color history from the previous 2 years. Not telling us about a treatment (Brazilian blowout, straightening treatment, perm, or otherwise) can result in breakage or severe damage. 

Over the span of two our three hours we can hold a lot of conversation, and we love it! However, we do not tolerate racist or hateful language and will address it immediately. 

Re-dos, corrections, and the help I'm not happy's!

We want you to have an excellent experience in our salon from start to finish. In the case you are dissatisfied with something, please let us know!

For haircuts please reach out for an adjustment within one week of your appointment. If you are concerned with booking with the stylist you had originally, we are happy to pair you with another stylist to adjust it at no charge. You can book this appointment within 2 weeks of your appointment.

For blonding appointments we can correct technical issues like a harsh line or adding a couple of foils as maybe your part was wrong during the appointment. We can also re-tone if you are still too gold or perhaps went too ash. For disappointment in how blonde a stylist was able to get you during a service- this adjustment is not as cut and dry. Feel free to reach out, but you might just be on a blonding journey and should get excited about the next service at Darling Hair Workshop. 

For all color adjustments please reach out within 1 week of your appointment. The adjustment appointment must take place within 2 weeks of your original appointment.​

Photographer and Studio

We direct all photography inquiries to our photographer, Patrick Biestman.  Our studio is best for smaller crowds up to a party of 4 adults. Our smallest session is 45 minutes, and hair and makeup services can be booked separately to accompany your experience but is not required. Our studio is private and we do not offer rentals for our space from other photographers.
